Moscow Metro and Old Arbat Private Walking Tour

One of the largest and most grandly built underground rail systems in the world, the Moscow Metro was designed to showcase the Soviet Union’s achievements, for Russians and international visitors. It opened in 1935 with one line and 13 stations, but today has more than 180 stations. The labyrinth of tunnels remains one of the deepest in the world.

Head underground to see stations that are uniquely designed with decorative elements, including mosaics, statues, marble floors, and grand staircases.

Back at street level, you will explore the Old Arbat, a pedestrianized street that has existed since the 15th century. During the age of Russian nobility it was considered one of the most desirable streets in the city, but its true claim to fame is the many artists who lived there.

Wander the gentrified streets, picking up unique souvenir items from the many craftsmen that still live and work along the Old Arbat, just a heartbeat from the Kremlin.
