Visit to Fatima

While you’re in Lisbon you shouldn’t miss the opportunity to visit Fatima, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the world and discover the places where the Virgin supposedly appeared to three shepherd children in 1917. You can meet your guide in Lisbon city centre or we can pick you up directly your hotel before heading for Fatima by bus. Our first stop will take be at the sanctuary where you can visit the tombs of Lucia de Jesus, Francisco Marto and Jacinta Marto, (known as "the three children") who claimed to have witnessed several apparitions of the Virgin in 917 in a pasture known as Cova da Iria. It is told that in one of those apparitions she told the children to build a chapel in that very place, which is now at the centre of the shrine where an image of the Virgin can be seen. You will have plenty of time to explore the town and also get the chance to attend a Mass at the Shrine. During the visit, you should not miss the Chapel, the Monument to the Immaculate Heart of Jesus, the Lausperene Chapel, the Basilica and Monuments tothe Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Then we will have the opportunity to visit Aljustrel, the birthplace of Jacinta, Francisco and Lucia, making a stop at Valinhos, where Our Lady of Fatima appeared for the fourth time in the same year. We will return to Lisbon in the late afternoon.
