In the Douro Wine Region you can savour the atmosphere of nostalgia, contemplate amazing viticulture landscapes, listen to the whispering wind in the vineyards and quench yourself with odours and scents of the earth, mountains and valleys. You will experience old traditions that explain the symbiosis between the Douro, the land and the wine. The second part of the trip will be spent in Porto, the 2nd largest city in Portugal, located along the Douro River estuary in northern Portugal. The historic centre of Porto, a World Heritage Site registered by UNESCO, in 1996, has an architectural heritage of exceptional value. One of Portugal's most famous exports worldwide, Port wine, is named after this city.

Day 1: Welcome to the Porto and the Douro Wine RegionA tour guide will be waiting for you at Francisco Sá Carneiro International Airport to give you a warm welcome, the necessary assistance and to escort you to your hotel in the Douro wine Region.
Day 2: Douro Wine RegionAfter breakfast you head for Pinhão travelling on one of the most enchanting routes in Portugal, alongside the Douro Rivers’ left riverbank. In the small town of Pinhão you pay a visit to what used to be the old railway station, now a store and museum with a display of unique items representing the great viticulture traditions of this region followed by a visit to the current railway station, adjacent the old one, well known for its’ 24 tile panels portraying the Douro landscapes and aspects of the vintage. The tour then takes you to some wine producing estates so you can fully understand the way of life of these people and be enlightened on the current and former production processes. An educational experience that reveals secrets and allows you to taste the extraordinary wines produced in this region. Accommodation in Douro.
Day 3: Upper Douro RegionAfter breakfast you head for the village of S. Joao da Pesqueira, considered as the «heart of the Douro Wine Region» and possessor of probably the most stunning belvedere of the entire Douro region; a place that goes by the name of the Saviour of the World. In Foz Côa you pay a visit to Quinta de Ervamoira, an estate situated within the Archaeological Park of Foz Côa, a park classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. A visit to the estates’ private museum, displaying archaeological findings that allow you to learn more about the history of the estate and its’ wines is also included. The stone engravings of Foz Côa, a rare concentration of rock art dating from the Upper Palaeolithic Period (22,000 to 10,000 BC), one of the oldest records of human activity recordings in the world will be the last attraction for the day. Return trip to Régua with accommodation in selected hotel in the Douro wine Region.
Day 4: Port wineriesVisits to Port and Douro wine producing estates distinguished with the «Best of Wine Tourism» prize, followed by a 2 hours boat cruise departing from Pinhão. Return trip to Porto and accommodation in selected hotel in Porto.
Day 5: Porto World HeritageThe Douro River flows to embrace the Atlantic Ocean in the city of Porto, the city where this tour will also come to an end. Porto, the city whose name the famous Port Wine is named. Following breakfast at the hotel, a private guided tour of the most typical streets in Porto. The tour begins in front of the Porto City Hall, from there you go on to visit the city’s most emblematic monuments with a grand ending at the Port wine cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia, on the other side of the Douro River, with a special treat… A toast… with the famous Port wine! In a colourful urban landscape, with many centuries of history, you will tread through peculiar places, get to know the most picturesque corners and witness the magnificence of the great architectural symbols of the “Invicta” city, like the Cathedral, the neo-Classical Stock Exchange Palace, the Cathedral Neighbourhood and the Church of St. Francisco, all top exponents of Baroque art. In the afternoon, you enjoy a cruise on the Douro River, 50 minutes duration, giving you a totally different perspective of the city’s beauty as you slowly travel up the river and under the six bridges that cross it, followed by visits to Serralves Museum, The House of Music and the city beaches. Return to selected hotel in Porto.
Day 6: Returning HomeTransfer from the hotel to Porto International Airport.
