We begin our tour in the Alfama district — Lisbon's oldest quarter. Here, the cobblestone streets will welcome you as old shopkeepers lean out their windows and breathe in the fresh sea air. Snap some photos of the quaint buildings before moving on to Rossio Square, the historic center of Lisbon.
Your guide will lead you through the story of Lisbon in a fun and intriguing way, sharing with you the stories of its rise to fame in the 15th and 16th centuries as explorers set out on maritime conquests. This Golden Age of Portugal is reflected in the architecture and your guide is here to answer any of your questions as we continue to explore.
Moving from the square, we'll head towards the Jerónimos Monastery (closed Mondays), where you can have a look at the extravagant Manueline architectural style that came to define this city. You'll also experience their wonders in the Belém area, with a stop at the Belém Tower. This UNESCO site was the point of departure for the sailors destined for greatness, and today you can explore the monument built for their discoveries.
