Around Nanga Parbat Trek Over Mazeno La Pass

Nanga Parbat (8126m), the world's ninth highest peak and the second-highest of Pakistan's five 8000m peaks, is the western most peak of the great himalayan range. Actually a 20km long series of peaks and ridges. Nanga parbat forms a huge massif. Its solitary white appearance, visible from south for at least 100km, prompted its name, which means naked mountain in Urdu. It's also known as the killer mountain because of the difficulties mountaineers have an reaching its summit.

The Valleys of Raikot, Astor, Rupal and Diamir provide access to Nanga Parbat's north, east, south and west faces respectively. The peak's base camps are raikot, rupal and Dimair (via bunar gah) are from the KKH along the Indus River. These Himalayan Valleys receive more rainfall and have more forests than their Karakorum neighbors.
