Ouzoud Waterfalls with lunch

Get away from the heat and bustle of the city and cool down on this visit to the spectacular waterfalls of Ouzoud. The falls are arguably the most spectacular in North Africa as well as being one of the main points of interest in the surroundings of Marrakech and perhaps the most beautiful location in the Middle Atlas. You’ll marvel at the unforgettable sight of the Ouzoud el Oued, a tributary of the Oued el Abid, that it joins a few miles later, falling thunderously from a height of 110 metres in three different steps to the bottom of a lush limestone canyon filled with creeping plants. The combination of the roar of the falls and the lush vegetation make for a powerful and romantic spectacle and there are unforgettable views from the top of the falls where the water falling onto the rocks below brings up a mist resulting in an almost permanent rainbow. On the way down you will find stalls and shops selling local souvenirs and handicrafts as well as restaurants serving traditional Moroccan food. The more adventurous may even want to try a dip in the river, be warned though; the river although clean can be pretty cold. Then you can enjoy a lunch break and try some traditional Moroccan specialties before returning to your hotel. A visit to the Ouzoud Falls is a must on any trip to Marrakech.
