Come and spend a morning at beautiful and mysterious Palenque, one of the most important archaeological sites in Mexico, surrounded by the lush vegetation of the Lacandona Jungle and symbolising the might and majesty of the Maya civilization at its peak. You'll be picked up from your hotel between 08:00 and 08:15 and we'll head straight for Palenque. This archaeological site, carpeted by a sea of green jungle and clothed in history and legend, is a striking reminder of how Mayan civilization flourished for hundreds of years in this lush tropical region. No matter how many times you visit this eerie environment, it is immediately intoxicating, even addictive. Close your eyes and sense the power of your surroundings, there is a sense of wonder and awe when you walk into the ruins of the ancient city. Although the area is still being excavated, there is plenty to see here including the Temple of Inscriptions, the Temple of Skulls and the Royal Palace, an interesting and intricate maze of courtyards and corridors leading into rooms including the distinctive Tower. Other Temples and structures of interest include the Temple of the Jaguar, the Temple of the Cross, the Temple of the Sun) and the Temple of the Foliated Cross. There is also an interesting museum on site which records Palenque's history, as well as artefacts from the site.

This morning excursion includes hotel pick up and drop off, all transfers and the services of a bilingual guide.
