The Matthews Range, also known as the Lenkiyio Hills, is a range of mountains about 150 km long, oriented north-south, in the Laikipia district of the Rift Valley Province in northern Kenya. The town of Wamba is located at the southeastern edge of the range.

Day 1: Nairobi

On the first day of your Matthews Range Luxury Safari a driver will meet you at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and drive through the bustling capital to the guesthouse for the night. Depending on when you arrive there might be time to take in some of the city's attractions during your Kenya holiday. Arrange to go out for dinner at one of the vibrant restaurants in the City.

Day 2: Matthews Range

After breakfast on this day of your Kenya holiday, travel to the Matthews Range. This mountain range rises up out of the arid surrounding plains and is covered in tropical forest, home to many rare species. It is known for its butterflies with over 200 species which can be seen while wandering the many hiking trails with an armed guide and local Samburu tracker. Buffalo and Leopard as well as Bush Buck occur in this scenic forest. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included)

Day 3 & 4: Matthews Range

Spend the next few days relaxing and exploring this beautiful region during your trip to Kenya. The bird watching is also excellent. Cool off during the hike by taking a dip in a crystal clear mountain pool before continuing the journey. Go on a cultural excursion and immerse yourself in the culture of the Samburu people who are known for their colourful style of dress. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included)

Day 5: Matthews Range to Nairobi

On the final morning of your Matthews Range Luxury Safari there may be time for one last venture into the surrounding forest before breakfast. After saying farewell, travel back to Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where this tour ends. Please speak to one of our Destination Specialists should you wish to extend this itinerary.
