Wadi Rum also known as The Valley of the Moon is a valley cut into the sandstone and granite rock in southern Jordan 60 km to the east of Aqaba; it is the largest wadi in Jordan. Wadi Rum is a short detour from the Desert Highway between Amman and Aqaba. A side road leads to the entrance where you will find the Wadi Rum Visitors Centre, a police office and a lot of potential guides offering camel and 4x4 treks.

Day 1: Wadi Rum jeep tour

We meet each other in our office in Rum village. If you arrive at the visitor center or the guesthouse we will come and pick you up there. In the office we enjoy Bedouin tea and we talk about today’s program. After finishing our tea we leave Rum village.

A short ride brings us to the natural spring called Lawrence spring. You scramble the spring to enjoy the spectacular views across Wadi Rum desert. We continue our drive and head to Khazali canyon. Here you see ancient inscriptions and a water hole. Our next stop is at the big rock wall called Anfishiyyeh which is famous for it’s ancient inscriptions. The last site we visit in the morning is the Lawrence house.

We drive to a nice, quiet and shady place where we take a few hours break. We prepare a Bedouin lunch for you. After we finish our lunch there is time to take a rest or walk around to explore the area on your own.

The afternoon starts with a beautiful drive to the Mushroom rock. We make a short stop before continuing to Um Fruth rock bridge. You can climb this bridge and enjoy the views of this part of Wadi Rum desert. We drive to the surprisingly green and narrow Abujashaba canyon. You walk through the canyon in about half an hour. We will wait for you on the other side. Before we go to Um Sabbatah to watch the sunset we visit the natural rock bridge of Burdah.

We can end this day tour at a cave to stay overnight. We will cook you a traditional Bedouin dinner. The evening can be spent around the fire. We can tell you about Bedouin culture and music or you can gaze into the starry night sky and enjoy the peaceful silence of the desert.

Or you will be brought back to Rum village. From here you can continue your journey. Of course we can help you to arrange transportation to your next destination.

Day 2: 1/2 day hiking and scrambling Jebel El Hash and 1/2 day jeep tour or camel ride

In the morning we serve you a hearty tradional Bedouin breakfast.

After breakfast we break up en drive through the beautiful desert to Jebel El Hash. The mountain is close to the border with Saudi Arabia. The climb to the top of Jebel El Hash is easy. The views of both the north and the south of Wadi Saabit are beautiful. You can see the difference between the red and the white sandstone. This hike also gives you a unique opportunity to discover fossils on top of the mountain. After taking our time to enjoy the views we head back.

We drive to another nice, quiet and shady place where we take a few hours break. We prepare another Bedouin lunch for you. After we finish our lunch there is time to take a rest or walk around to explore the area on your own.

In the afternoon you go on another jeep tour to visit some of the most beautiful places or you can request a camel tour. Please let us know your preference in advance.

Late in the afternoon we head back to Rum village. From here you can continue your journey. Of course we can help you to arrange transportation to your next destination. Or we can arrange a second overnight in the desert.
