Become an expert in Japanese culture with a morning full of customary experiences. Begin the day by arriving at a restored traditional wooden house, where you can wear a kimono—with the help of an English-speaking instructor—and enjoy a tea ceremony complete withMatcha (powered green tea) and Japanese sweets. Later, attend a calligraphy lesson with a tutor who can teach you step-by-step to write Kanji (Chinese characters) on Japanese paper with India ink and a calligraphy brush. Once you become confident in your newfound calligraphy abilities, choose your favorite Kanji and write it on hard paper to take back home with you.
Your Japanese culture immersion continues with flower arranging, watching as the instructor demonstrates the difference between Japan's asymmetric arrangements and the western symmetrical arrangements. The final tutorial of the day provides you with an introduction to origami, showing you how to make a variety of shapes by simply folding a square sheet of paper and giving you even more handmade souvenirs to take and show your friends back home.
