Walking with Caravaggio

The walk begins with a visit to an important and ancient city institution, the Pio Monte della Misericordia: Seven young aristocrats eager to help the poor and needy, founded this institution and took to the main altar of the church a great work of Caravaggio marks the first of two stays Neapolitan, the «Seven Works ofMercy.»

We leave the Old Center and reach a road century «via Toledo», commissioned by the viceroy Don Pedro de Toledo, now one of the most important shopping streets, but also rich in various aristocratic residences such as the PalazzoZevallos Stigliano Colonna. The building, a residence noble seat of an importantbank in the last home of the Lombard master of Neapolitan paintings, the«Martyrdom of St: Ursula».
Having appreciated the works of Caravaggio, you can relax and shop windowspeering between a classic Neapolitan coffee and a good cake to finish the walk to reach the main square of the city, Piazza del Plebiscite with the majestic Royal Palace.
