Undergrounds of Rome: St.Clement Church

St.Clement Church is not just one of the many churches in Rome but a great adventure.

A visit to St. Clement’s is the best way to explore the different layers of Roman history. You will experience a 4-level building tour which takes you back in time to the 1st century BC. From the ground-level medieval basilica (12th century), we will descend to the original church (4th century) and then into a misterious pagan temple (2nd century) and in the end to a Roman Mint (1st century). And last, but not least, you will see and touch the fresh water of an underground stream!

The church is just 5 minutes walking distance from the Colosseum.
