Triest and Miramare castle, excursion from Slovenia

From Ljubljana pass Postojna and Sezana we will visit Adriatic port of Trieste with fascinating main square Piazza Unita Italia, cathedral of San Giusto, the Capitol Hill, site of ancient Roman Ruins including the theater and the forum. We will also take time to taste a famous Italian coffee and gelato (Italian word for ice cream) or just spend time for shopping in numerous shops for all tastes.

Trieste is the most northern port in the Adriatic sea. With its strategic location it was very important throughout the history and played a strong role for the economy of the Hapsburg empire. The town is still multicultural.
Nearby, Hapsburg emperor Maksimilian built picturesque castle Miramare, on the shore of Adriatic sea surrounded by beautiful park, for him and his wife Charlotte of Belgium.
