Medieval Ferrara

The magnificent façade of the Cathedral is a sort of «stone book» telling us the story of Ferrara during the Middle Ages; its Museum is one of the richest in the city, with the incredible organ doors painted by Cosmé Tura, the sculpted panels of the Months and the Virgin of the pomegranate by Jacopo della Quercia. The charming old little streets show the original development of the city as a commercial centre along the old river Po; the characteristic quartier of the Jewish Ghetto introduce us to the Italian, Ashkenazi and Sephardi communities in history. In the end, the arrival of the Este family and their Seignory, symbolized by the Castle.
