Palazzo Costabili — also known as Palazzo Ludovico il Moro — together with Palazzo Diamanti are maybe the most representative architectural examples of early 16th century Renaissance architecutre in Ferrara. The palace now hosts the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Spina established in 1935. A large selection of findings refer to Ferrara's nearby Spina with over 4000 Etruscan tombs containing Attic red figure vases of the classical period (VI — IV c. B.C), gold jewellery, Baltic amber, alabaster, and glass containers for perfumes and balms discovered in the Twenties and Fifties of the 20th century. The elegant Palazzo also features two pirogues dating back to the 4th c. A.C., frescoes by Benvenuto Tisi da Garofalo (1481-1559), and a garden now open to the public.
