Devotees perform this pilgrimage to worship the Mother Goddess who was born into human form as Devi Vaishnavi in southern part of India. The emergence of Devi was with the defined purpose to help the needy and uphold righteousness and it is in this reverence that devotees flock in crores to seek Her blessings. The mother assumed the rock face (known as "pindis") before she immersed herself into meditation for ever.
