Snaefellsnes Tour

The Snaefellsnes peninsula has always been a beautiful place to go, and is definitely recommended for nature lovers of all kinds.

First stop is in the historically interesting Borgarnes village, located in the Borgarfjörður.

After this we will make a stop at the Snæfellsnesglacier, which has always had some mystic linked to it and is also known as the setting of the novel “Journey to the Center of the Earth” written by the French author Julles Verne. Next visit will be in a small fishing village called “Arnarsapi”, located at the foot of Mt. Stapafell between Hellnar and Breiðavík farms on the southernside of Snæfellsnes. After that we drive to Hellnar, which is an ancient fishing village, a cluster of old houses and buildings situated close to Arnarstapi on the westernmost part of the Snæfellsnes peninsula.

Next stop is Djúpalónsfjara. Djúpalónsfjara is a good place to stop and go for a walk. 4 rocks can be found on the way to the beach that the fisherman used to test people’s strength. Lifting the rock weighing 155 kg is called „fully strong“, 140 kg called „half strong“, 49 kg called „weakling“ and 23 ks called „useless“. Anyone who could not lift the 49 kg stone was not accepted on the fishing boats. On the way to the beach you will notice rusting pieces of a British fishing boat that stranded there in 1948.

We continue and we drive along the northern peninsula

We passed fishing villages Rif. Hellisandur, Ólafsvík, Grundarfjörður and Stykkishólmur
for example.

And finally, we go back to the Reykjavik,
