Mission Bay Family Kayak Tour

Kayaking on Mission Bay is the ideal San Diego adventure experience for families. Glide through the calm waters, bask in the sunshine, and soak up the beach lifestyle as you explore the largest aquatic park in the United States. Check out an array of wildlife that may include sea lions, seals, dolphins, sea birds, and a variety of fish. Make your way through the rock gardens and keep your eyes peeled for lobster, star fish, leopard sharks and garibaldi fish. Mission Bay is a recreational paradise and the perfect spot for first time kayakers.

Tours are offered daily during the peak season and as scheduled during the off season. Meeting location is at La Jolla Shores shop. Free parking is available on side streets. Transportation to the launching point in Mission Bay will be provided. Please arrive 30 minutes before tour time to check in and get fitted for equipment. Please contact the supplier for up-to-date information on tour times and meeting locations, as they vary and are subject to change without notice. Tours include stable, easy-to-paddle, sit-on-top kayak (single or tandem), paddle, and life jacket. Waterproof cameras are available for sale. Swimsuits, easy-to-dry shorts and a top and/or windbreakers are recommended. No flip flops, water shoes are preferable, but shoes are not necessary. Small lockers are available.

Participants must be 2 years or older and must be able to swim. No experience necessary. Guides are expert naturalists with backgrounds in marine biology, ecology, environmental science photography, and outdoor recreation, and hold advanced certifications in kayak and snorkel instruction, and CPR/First Aid.
