Full Private Tour - Day tour of Corinth passing through the ages

Drive along the coastal road of the Saronic Gulf to the Corinth Canal, where you will have a short stop, to take pictures of the great Canal which connects the Aegean and Ionian seas. See the runway named Diolkos, which was the first global instrument track invented by the ancient Corinthians. Diolkos is a corridor cross the isthmus, starting from the current area of sea grass and ended in Schoinounta (modern Kalamaki) constructed with great intelligence and knowledge of engineering.

Back to antiquity, continue with a visit to the ancient town of Corinth where St. Paul lived and preached for two years. The remains of the city, which include the Agora (market place) and Apollo's Temple (6th century B.C.) clearly show how rich and important Corinth was in ancient times.

Acrocorinth is the next stop of your tour. The Acrocorinth was the acropolis of Corinth and fortified with great care; it owes part of its name to the combination of words Corinth and Acropolis. The Temple of Venus is at the highest point of Acrocorinth and from there, you can gaze upon a vast area.

Returning back into the centre of the town you will see the church of St. Paul, patron of the city of Corinth, built in 1932-34.The whole concept of church is based on church of Agia Sophia in Istanbul. It is considered one of the newer models of ecclesiastical architecture in Greece and the Balkans and occupies an entire block. Enjoy some free time for shopping and lunch – on own expenses.

Lastly you will have a short stop at the site of the ancient port of Kehries, where St. Paul disembarked, concluding the visit before returning back to Athens.
