It is hardly a secret that France claims to be the gastronomic capital of the world. It is equally well known that France lives up to this reputation. However, over the last few years I have had the impression that visitors sometimes have the wrong impression of French cuisine in the sense that many see it as almost synonymous with being fancy. Though haute cuisine can also be memorable, it doesn’t always give an accurate representation of what French people eat day to day.
To many in France, the best dishes are quite often the simplest. The intention of our tours is to show that real, down-to-Earth French cuisine is not only delicious, but quite approachable as well. The tours combine eating wonderful French food and a walking tour of Paris’ best neighborhoods. We sit down at all restaurants and take our time to enjoy the food and each other’s company. We hope that you join us so that we can show you what makes this country, and this city so special.
The Montmartre Movable Feast combines three restaurant stops, where we will eat an Entree (Appetizer) of Charcuterie and Fromage, A Plat (Main Course), and A Dessert. All Plates are paired with appropriate Wines and Cider.
Between restaurants, we will take in the sites and explain the history of Montmartre and its inhabitants, and what makes this quarter of Paris so unique.
About Montmartre
La Republique de Montmartre is a neighborhood unlike any other in Paris. Situated on a hill in the 18th Arrondissement, Montmartre has the feel of a small French village with unparalleled views of the rest of the city. It is little wonder that such artists as Picasso, Van Gogh, and Renoir lived here for inspiration.
