The temples of Luxor and Karnak are separated by about three kilometers with the sacred lake between them, Karnak is dedicated to the god Amonis, and it is divided into three areas separated by rough brick walls. It is the largest temple supported by columns in the world. The Temple of Luxor, is among the most beautiful Temples in the world, it contains structures from many periods, the earliest dating from the 12th Dynasty. The pharaoh Amenhotep III in the 18th Dynasty was responsible for enlarging the temple and his work was carried on by many following New Kingdom Pharaohs.
