Quito City Tour and “Mitad del Mundo”
This is a 5-6 hours private tour, aimed to families or couples, but it can be fixed for groups. The tour starts at the hotel where the tourists are and immediately they are transported to the old town of Quito, first city in the world was declared by UNESCO a Human Cultural Heritage. Once in the Old Town, part of the tour, 2h30min approximately, will be walking.
Quito has the best preserved and the largest old town in Latin America. During the tour in the first part of it, visitors can experience: the Plaza Grande, Church-Museum of the Cathedral, Church-Museum of La Compañía, San Francisco Plaza, the overlook and monument of El Panecillo, and the Basilica del Voto Nacional. Along the tour you’ll have the chance of learning and discuss about the process of the Spanish Conquest in South America, the influence and the life-style of the colonial age in Ecuador, as well as, analyzing and understanding the origins and evolution of Quito’s society.
The second part of the tour consists in to traveling from the old town to the north side of the city, 45min approx. Here is located the “Middle of the World” which is the right place where the Equator line divides the planet in both, northern and southern hemisphere. This place offers to visitors the opportunity of testing and trying the different experiments that prove you are standing up on the Equator!
Note: Quito City Tour and “Mitad del Mundo” is a tour that can be divided either the Old Town or Equator Line, depending on the visitor’s time. 3h approx. each visit. The fee of the tour will be reduced. See costs.
Depending on the starting time of the visit, the guide will recommend and will take the group to a restaurant during the half part of the excursion. If the entire tour finish before or at 2h00pm you can coordinate with the guide If you want to be taking back to the hotel or the restaurant where the tour will be finished.
