East Galapagos Cruise 6 to 7 Days

The eastern Galapagos are older than the western islands and tend to have more vegetation as well as diversity of flora on land. The wildlife viewing is awesome and includes opportunities to see giant tortoises, iguanas, penguins, sea lions, reef sharks and more. Our cruise starts with an excursion to Bartolome Island for excellent views of the volcanic landscape and the iconic Pinnacle Rock. Our next stop is North Seymour Island famous for its courting Frigatebirds and Blue Footed Boobies. We continue next to South Plaza island for a hike to see the frigatebirds, Galapagos shearwaters and red-billed tropicbirds as well as land iguanas. Our cruise continues to San Cristobal for where we will visit Cerro Brujo and the stunning cliffs of 'Sorcerer's Hill'. Take a walk to view the sea lions on the beach, snorkel from shore or visit a hidden lagoon for the chance of spotting black-necked stilts, ruddy turnstones and whimbrels. After visiting the tortoise center we will transport you to the airport for your flight back to the mainland of Ecuador. All of our cruise packages start and end in Quito and include your Galapagos flights.

Eastern Galapagos Cruise Highlights:

* Note: All of our eastern Galapagos itineraries include the following destinations. Specific itineraries vary depending on the number of cruising days.

South Plaza
This small island of sheer cliffs is not lacking in biodiversity. It offers colorful seabird watching opportunities, as shearwaters, gulls, frigates, and pelicans alike nest in its rocky outcroppings. Due to the close living proximity of marine and land iguanas here, it’s the only place to spot hybrid iguanas. Enjoy the unique wildlife on South Plaza by hiking through cactus forests or cruising around the sea lion colonies.

Isla Santiago
The volcanically active island of Santiago is the fourth largest island in the archipelago. Due to its plentitude of young lava flows and cones, it’s a great place to expand your knowledge of volcanoes, lava bombs, and lava tunnels. Cruise past unbelievable volcanic formations, including the volcanic cone ‘Chinese Hat’ (52m/170ft) with its small colony of Galapagos. Enjoy the splendor of its white coral and black beaches before moving onto your next destination.

San Cristobal
Some of the most popular activities in San Cristobal, one of the archipelago’s oldest islands, include visiting Cerro Brujo or Lobos Islet. Cerro Brujo, located atop the stunning cliffs of 'Sorcerer's Hill', is the only colony where Red Footed Boobies, Nasca Boobies and Blue Footed Boobies nest together, The Lobos Islet can be found just off the coast of San Cristobal, where you can approach the sea lions within several meters. If you are lucky, you might see the great frigate birds inflating their scarlet pouches while enacting mating dances to impress females.
