Combo Castle Tour: Royal and Hamlet tour

See the fairytale castles and picturesque countryside north of Copenhagen. We leave the capital and travel up the Riviera road, enjoy beautiful views of the Oresund Strait with the Swedish coast beyond, as we make our way to Helsingor, Shakespeare’s Elsinore.

Get the best out of a day in beautiful North Zealand and visit all the castles along the route. Go inside and experience the dungeons of Kronborg and the wonders of Frederiksborg Castle. Both these ancient castles are available together only with the Castle Tour ticket.

At Elsinore enter and experience the impressive Kronborg Castle, the setting of Shakespeare´s Hamlet. The castle was built between 1574 and 1585 to protect Danish interests and to collect tolls from ships passing through the narrow strait. After Kronborg Castle the tour continues past the royal family’s summer residence, Fredensborg Castle. We’ll pause here to take advantage of this wonderful photo opportunity.

Just a few minutes down the road is the magnificent Frederiksborg Castle, which dominates the oh-so-pretty town of Hillerod. Included is a visit to the National History Museum’s royal art collection, the Chapel of Orders and the Knights’ Hall.

Meeting point: Axeltorv on Vesterbrogade opposite Tivoli at 10.30am daily, returning at bout 5pm. Guided tour in English.
