Red Earth Villages

RED EARTH VILLAGES

This is a great and fun tour for all the family.

The red villages took their name by the red soil part of the region of Famagusta.  

On this half day tour we visit the «Ascott» pottery in Paralimni.  There you can have a go on the potter's wheel and you get to keep your «masterpiece».  There is a selection of various styles of pottery so shopping there is recommended.  

We continue thru the town of Paralimni, to enter the village of Dherynia.  We arrive at the Cultural Center, for refreshments and photo taking.  There is an excellent view of the Famagusta ghost town so don't forget your cameras.

We continue our visit in Dherynia village by visiting an orange plantation to pick oranges from the trees(when in season)

Next we drive alongside the buffer zone which gives us a clear idea how things are militarily today.   

We drive pass the potato fields and the various plantations of the area to arrive at the little fishing harbour, called «Potamos» outside of the village of Liopetri.  Free time for a walk and photos of the area.

Last but not list we visit the Agia Napa Monastery, dating back to the 14th century A.D.

After that we return to our hotels.
