Larnaca Past And Present Half Day Walking Tour

Welcome to the beautiful town of Larnaca, the third largest one on the island of Cyprus.  Our walk starts from the Cyprus Tourist Organisaton Office and we stroll alongside the Palms avenue (promenade).  We pass the Larnaca marina, and see the bust of the greek general Kimon.  We continue our walk by walking thru the old streets of the town.  There we have a good chance to see the traditional workshops and the kraftsmen.  We arrive at the small workshop of Mr Violaris, a well-known candle maker.  We then continue to visit the church of St. Lazarus, dating 9th Century A.D. If our tour is on a Saturday, we visit the local open market and see what the local merchants are selling. Free time is given to you for a nice stroll, some shopping or to have a refreshment at the cafeterias nearby.

We meet again and we continue by entering the New Town Area.  We pass by the «Pierides Museum» where we visit the museum's courtyard.  It is used as an open museum, where the artwork of various contemporay artists is presented.

Lunch time.  Join me for a well cooked kebab in pitta bread at one of the best kebab places in the town with a drink.

We return again at the starting point.
