The temple, located southeast of the city in the neighbourhood July 20, is one of the most important centres of pilgrimage and prayer in Bogota. Stick figure of the Risen Christ's altar made of marble, the lamps hanging from the main nave and the beautiful stained glass arranged in the aisles. The image of the Divine Child Jesus is worshiped in a small chapel located behind the corridor altar.
Devotion is due to in 1935, when Salesian Father John Rizzo arrived at Veinte de Julio neighbourhood, he convinced of the importance of honouring the childhood of Jesus, to entrust, in religious art warehouse district the Vatican Candelaria, an image of the infant back to those fields preparing to propagate his devotion.
Since then the Shrine of the Divine Child has grown in architectural design and thousands of parishioners, with devotion and faith, come in thanksgiving asking for help for their needs. The sanctuary gathers around a group of works that support social work with disadvantaged communities in the city. The temple, the covered square and adjacent neighbourhood park are filled with visitors and devotees every Sunday, who come on pilgrimage to venerate the miraculous image.
