Discover the great outdoors and vibrant villages of far Eastern Antioquia, considered by many to be one of Colombia’s most beautiful regions. This full day guided tour will allow you to explore beautiful lush landscapes dotted with breathtaking natural features and picturesque towns.

Visit the pretty village of Peñol, where not everything is as it seems. The original Peñol was flooded in the Seventies to build a reservoir and everything was moved to the current location, lock, stock and barrel. The ruins of the old town can be seen as well as a number of important churches but none has as much significance as the holy Marial Stone, a massive monolith with a temple on the summit, which is the object each April of a pilgrimage to honour the Divine Shepherdess. Climb the steps to the top and enjoy panoramic views of the reservoir and surrounding countryside.

Just 15km away is bustling Guatape, known as the ‘heart of the east’. Thanks to the reservoir, it has now become one of the country’s top water sports and outdoor activities centres. Its balconied houses are elaborately painted in a kaleidoscope of colours, and are a magnet for photographers. Walk down the cobbled roadway of Calle del Recuerdo (Memory Lane) and admire the creative and spontaneous decorations residents have chosen for the bases of the façades of their homes. Enjoy a traditional local lunch and maybe relax afterwards with a soothing stroll along the boardwalk as you inhale the fresh air of the wild. Meeting/pick-up point: Collection from your hotel.
