Guilin One Day Longji Rice Terrace Private Tour

Longsheng county is northeast of Guangxi and 80km from Guilin. The Longji rice terrace started producing crops during the Ming dynasty about 700 years ago. With industrial labor and meticulous care and tillage by the Zhuang and Yao people for generations, the terrace is now renowned as one of the most beautiful and unique scenery by visitors of the world.

Longsheng county is populated by people of many different Minority ethnic groups, including the Dong and Zhuang people. It is also a region colored by rustic folk customs and folk lore. One needs to be one with the scene in order to fully appreciate its true beauty.

Huangluo Yao village is the only one of Yao ethnic group among all the thirteen villages in Longji, where lives Red Yao people. You will find that all the women in the village enjoy wearing red clothes. The village however is best known as the Long-hair Village. According to local tradition, women cut their hair only once in their lives ― between 16 to 18 years of age when they are considered ready for marriage. The cut hair is kept like a headpiece and twisted into part of their regular hairdo. They hold a Guinness Record for their hair length! It is said that they wash their beautiful jet black hair every two to three days with water in the nearby river which has been used to rinse rice.
