Day 1: Calama to San Pedro de Atacama

Upon arrival at El Loa Airport in Calama, our driver will meet you and whisk you away to the laidback city of San Pedro de Atacama. You’ll rest easy at the hotel and have the evening to meet your guide, relax and sample some local food and entertainment.

Day 2: San Pedro de Atacama to Moon Valley

Take an easy morning to get ready for your excursion to Valle de la Luna (Valley of the Moon). Here you will experience a breathtaking landscape that boasts varying colors and textures, reminiscent of the surface of the moon. Here, you’ll find time to explore and experience the landscape before returning to San Pedro de Atacama for the evening.

Day 3: San Pedro - Tatio Geyser - Machuca - Salt Flats & Toconao

Today will be an early morning as we embark before sunrise to see the Geiser del Tatio, a geyser field situated in the Andes at 4380 m (14,320 feet). In the early morning, steam slowly rises from the earth as the sun makes its appearance. You’ll see over 80 spouting geysers and pots erupting constantly with water spouting anywhere from 75 cm to 6 meters! Breakfast will be served at the geyser field.

Later, we’ll head towards Toconao, a historic town with eclectic attractions such as its old Church built in 1744, the San Lucas Bell Tower and homes made from volcanic rocks. Here you can purchase alpaca textiles, miniature bell towers made of rock and other assorted souvenirs from local artists.

Last, but certainly not least, we’ll arrive at the famous salt flats and visit Lake Chaxa where pink flamingos roam in their natural habitat. This is a perfect place to watch the sunset before returning back to San Pedro de Atacama for the evening.

Day 4: San Pedro de Atacama - Archelogical Tour - Calama Departure

Step back in time as you retrace the steps of a bloody battle between the Ancient Atacama peoples and the Spanish Army at El Pucara de Quitor, a fortress built on a hill that overlooks the San Pedro Oasis. Later on, discover the culture and architecture of Tulor, an ancient village that dates back to 320 B.C. Here, you’ll find local crafts and food for purchase. There will be time for lunch here, although it is not included in the tour price.

In the evening, we'll return you to Calama where you can catch your flight back to Santiago.
