Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in the morning and take your small group to downtown Rio to begin your comprehensive city tour. Board your comfortable minivan and drive past the Sambadrome—the Carnival parade venue for Rio’s famous samba schools—before a quick stop at the Metropolitan Cathedral. Marvel at the unusual pyramid shape before entering the cathedral for a fascinating look around. Then, continue to Cinelandia Square where you'll view some of Rio’s classic buildings such as the National Library, the National Museum of Fine Arts and the Municipal Theater.
Leaving downtown, re-board the van for the neighborhood of Urca, where the granite peaks of Urca and Sugar Loaf Mountain rise above Guanabara Bay. Hop in a glass-walled cable car for the ascent, taking in the incredible panoramic views of Rio and its sprawling beaches below. You'll make a brief stop at a vista point on Urca, approximately 700 feet (215 meters) above sea level, before continuing to the top of Sugar Loaf.
