Favela Tour Experience "Small Group"

Venture into one of Rio de Janeiro’s densely populated favelas in this half day tour with a difference. In the company of an expert local guide you’ll be able to meet the inhabitants of Santa Marta, one of the many shanty towns that have sprung up around the edge of Rio, as you gain a deeper understanding of these vibrant, proud communities.

You’ll step into the Santa Marta favela accompanied by your local guide, wander through the community, meeting the locals and visiting some of the locations made famous in the Michael Jackson video. You’ll have plenty of time to explore the warren of narrow alleys as you admire the inventiveness and passion of the settlement’s inhabitants.

We’ll take some time to visit a local community centre where you can learn all about the efforts made by the local people towards self-improvement. We’ll also visit a small craft market where you will have the opportunity to snap up some of the handiwork made by local people at the same time as you support the community.
