Gradačac is a city in the northeastern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Located on the slopes of Majevica and Trebava mountains at an altitude of 129 meters. The city is dominated by the tower of Hussein Bey Gradaščević, known as the Castle, which is a trademark and a recognizable symbol of the city. Construction of the tower was completed in 1821. From this period some significant cultural and historical monuments have emerged such as mosques Husejnija, built by Husejin-captain in 1875th and a stne clock tower. In Gradacac one can find of the oldest libraries in Bosnia and Herzegovina, established in 1839.
Gradačac has been known by its thermal waters from the Ottoman period and a spa complex “Ilidza” has been built there.
