Start your tour with a pickup from your Brussels hotel or a central meeting point in town. Aboard an air-conditioned coach, your guide will give you a panoramic overview of Brussels while explaining the history of some of the most famous Belgian comic series. Then, take to the streets by foot for a more intimate view of Brussels’ comics heritage.
Travel along the Brussels' Comic Book Route, a path composed of more than 50 comic strip paintings that deck the walls of several buildings throughout the city, primarily in the city center (the Pentagon). Beginning in 1991 in collaboration with the Belgian Comic Strip Center, this project became an opportunity to commemorate these famous, beloved comics and their creators.
See murals depicting scenes from The Adventures of Tintin, Lucky Luke, The Smurfs, Corentin, Black and Mortimer, Gaston, Marsupilami, Gil Jourdan and more. Gazing upwards, marvel at your favorite animated heroes immortalized in giant form as your guide describes the murals and explains the motifs and symbolisms behind them.
After your city tour, head to the Belgian Comic Strip Center, where Belgian comic history is chronicled in detail. Meet your host for a walking tour around the permanent and temporary exhibitions that feature original artwork from comic series creators such as Hergé, Peyo and Morris. This museum is housed in the former Waucquez Warehouse, a gem of Art Nouveau by the masterful Belgian architect Victor Horta.
