Antwerp

This half-day, fully guided bus and walking tour of Antwerp is a great way to get to know Belgium's second city and one of the most important ports in Europe. This unspoilt mediaeval city has recently undergone extensive urban regeneration attracting many artists and quirky shops, bar and restaurants to the area around the old docklands. It is also an important diamond trading centre.

After leaving Brussels, we'll drive north through Brabant heading for Antwerp, Belgium's second city. Our first stop is the impressive Market Square, surrounded by brightly coloured gabled mediaeval guild houses. While here you will also visit the Cathedral of Our Lady, one of the the most impressive and largest Gothic cathedrals in Northern Europe: Built in 1351 it stands over 400 ft tall. It also houses some of Rubens' most famous paintings.

After some free time for exploring on your own, we'll board the bus again as we head for Antwerp's famous harbour, one of the largest in Europe! Enjoy the breathtaking views from the 9th floor of the MAS Museum and then learn all about Antwerp's role as the world centre of the diamond trade at a nearby diamond workshop.
