We journey south along the beautiful Salzach Valley to the quaint village of Werfen.

 

Along the way, we view historic monuments, sheer mountain passes and probably the most imposing fortress in Middle Europe, Fortress Hohenwerfen.

Here, you have the option of remaining at the fortress used in the movie “Where Eagles Dare” for a tour, a visit to the museums and a truly unique “Birds of Prey” show at the historic falconry.

 

Those continuing on to the ice caves take a beautiful hike to the cable car which transports them to the natural wonder.

We enter the Ice Caves with a guide who explains the cavern labyrinths, the mysterious ice figures and tells tales of adventure.

 

ATTENTION for visitors to the Ice Caves: walking shoes and warm clothes are required for this tour. Furthermore, we kindly inform you that it is important to be prepared for uphill hiking. There are small sections of steep uphill hiking to reach the cave and over 700 steps inside.
