After your arrival at the Tirana airport we head Durres the second largest city and one of the most ancient and economically important cities of Albania. After a brief visit to Llogara National Park the next stop is Saranda is a beautiful coastal city. Saranda offers easy access to Butrinti a World Heritage site which preserves an ancient city dating back as far as 5 BC. The next stop is Gjirokaster where the main highlight is its old town which is inscribed on the World Heritage List as "a rare example of a well-preserved Ottoman town.” We continue to Berat which has a wealth of beautiful buildings and the pine forests above the city provide a backdrop of appropriate grandeur. From Berat we take a tour of Kruja where you will visit the Old Bazaar before heading back to Tirana for a tour of the capital and then end of the tour. Day 1

Arrive Tirana airport and transfer to Durres. Enjoy a welcome dinner and overnight hotel.

Day 2

Tour of Durres, to include the Roman Amphitheatre, Archaeological and History Museums. Travel on to Apollonia to visit this ancient city and museum. On to Vlora. Dinner and overnight in Vlora.

Day 3

Today we make the wonderful panoramic trip along the Riviera route to Saranda. We lunch in Llogara National Park and enjoy the spectacular scenery along the Adriatic/Ionian coastline. Dinner and overnight in Saranda.

Day 4

Morning tour to Butrinti. This World Heritage site has well preserved remains of the ancient city dating back as far as 5 BC, you will see the theatre, collonades, mosaics and buildings from many centuries. Return to Saranda, rest of day at leisure. Dinner at Lekursi castle, overnight Saranda.

Day 5

In the morning we set off to Gjirokaster, enjoying the mountain scenery enroute. Upon arrival in Gjirokaster, the town of 1000 steps, we visit the Fortress, Ethnographic Museum and see examples of the architecture unique to this town. After lunch travel on to Berat. Dinner and overnight in Berat.

Day 6

In the morning we tour "The Town of a Thousand Windows" as Berat is known. We can visit the Citadel, Onufri Museum as well as churches and mosques. In the afternoon we travel to the capital city, Tirana. rest of afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Tirana.

Day 7

Depart for a sightseeing tour of Kruja. Here you will visit the Old Bazaar which sells genuine Albanian antiquities as well as local made crafts including linen and lace. Visit The Museum of Skanderbeg and the Ethnographic Museum. Back to Tirana for an afternoon tour of the Capital City. We see the National Museum, Opera House, Mosque of Ethem Bey, Clock Tower as well as many government buildings. Dinner in the Blokku area of the city before overnight in Tirana.

Day 8

At leisure for shopping or walking around the city before transfer to the airport for return home. Tour ends.
